Do not be deceived by the appearance or the title...fried left over oatmeal and egg, served hot with butter and real maple syrup...It's a treat. Over and over my kitchen world is exploding with discoveries out of my 'can't-put-it-down-beloved' cook book Nourishing Traditions.
Trying to make the transition from toxic teflon to good ol' cast iron. Low in iron? cook w/ cast iron!
you reminded me of how much i loved this cast iron skillet (very low sides) that one of our roommates had. now i'm thinking that i'd like one for myself. where would you even get such a thing? i'm a terrible shopper, so i need advice.
ReplyDeletei've seen cast iron in both Canadian Tire and SuperStore...there are 2 kinds: the least expensive is the one that needs to be scrubbed/scratched/prepared b/4 use...and then there is the one that is already prepared. Overall prices are no more no less then the teflon stuff. cooking w/ cast iron is a tad more work and a little more fat - but it has the same feeling as cloth diapering does; its good for my family!
ReplyDeleteYou could also try a local family/coop owned hardware stores like pollocks... there are always gems of cooking ware to be found at those places!
ReplyDeleteAlso your bike cemetery post was a priceless uplifter of moods today... thank you!
And go look at the properties for sale at Grand Pines golf course near grand beach... That is where we need to set up community! nice sunday drive, should we plan a picnic?
