Really, are the summer days that lazy? Maybe a few of them...but there also filled with the buzz of activities we all need to get done before our Canadian Prairie's harsh winters set in.
Besides work, my husband always has construction projects on the go, and soon we'll be selling several campers that he has fixed up....So, if you are in the area and are in want of a camper...we have a few newer ones and a couple of older ones soon to be ready - we've already had a few folks renting them - and no I'm not talking about mice or other wild visiters!
Nana, says we should just stay the whole summer there - That would be nice....makes me realize that I can live on a lot less - and by that I mean less stuff. Living in a 500sqft place with 3 young children and grandparents and all!
I'm told that the newest trend in house building, is down scaling in terms of square footage. I'd love to hear what your thoughts about downscaling are!? Smaller spaces would also mean less to clean!!!
Have a Splashing good week and long weekend!
wonderful pictures and sounds like you had a lovely time!
ReplyDeleteDownsizing the home is the way to go. We live in far too much square footage in North America, filled with too much stuff, and then we have to clean it all. In fact, the points system in LEED for Homes (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) awards a point for keeping the house design under the recommended square footage guidelines - far below our standard house sizes today. Saves resources, money and energy.
ReplyDeleteWonderfuly said Jen! fascinating! I'm going to look that up, LEED - thanks!
ReplyDeleteour house is very small. I find that I have alot less stuff and am creative with just where everything goes - everything has a spot so it is 'easier' to clean... I like the closeness to my family. it sounds like you are enjoying a lovely summer at the beach, a perfect place to be!
ReplyDeleteI completely agree about the living with less. Having spent so much time at my Mother's I know just how content my children are to just be outside. She has a small 2brm home with far fewer toys but much more outdoor property for them to just explore. Reminds me of my own childhood and has really ignited my passions for a simpler (not less busy mind you) life. I wonder if I would feel the same come winter?
ReplyDeleteLooks like you're having a good summer. I am too. I like living small, I don't ever want a huge house, 800 sq feet would be plenty for me!
ReplyDeleteHi Patty-jean, Love this post! Our house is fairly small, but big compared to what you are talking about here. I love a small house! I actually enjoy simple living - but I think all of us (husband and 2 teen daughters still at home) would find it hard to give up the internet. We don't watch much tv, but the internet is pretty fun. good to connect with you. blessings, amy
