You know it's cold when the sippy cup in the cupboard-that changes colour when there is cold liquid inside - has started to change that colour....when there is only air inside....Ah yes, old homes are full of character, multi-dimensional character - that is when we have a cold snap, and those boilers are working so hard to keep the old home warm....out comes ALL the wool wear - Lovely wool socks, wool pullovers, ponchos, and blankets - and of course hot coffee! they said it was -30 today, and with the wind chill it could go as low as -50! gotta love it!

The flying matter. Selah (3) has been on my case for the last 3 months or so for a pair of wings. Fairy wings, butterfly wings, angel wings - really any 'pretty' wings. The other day the plea came up again..."please, maman - make some wings - s'il vous plait - s'il vous plait...." so we trundled down into the basement where the craft and sewing supplies are kept (well piled up). I really didn't have time for a time consuming project. I spied my pile of crisp unfolded tissue paper - and thought, ahh she's small a big bow of this will do just fine....so that is what we did. Just made a Big bow of different coloured tissue paper, tied it in the middle with some yarn, and to that tied on some elastic for her arms....i thought it was grand - especially the part about how much time it took...But it just took a few moments of the new wings on and her, and her face fell...."Maman, can't fly! Pas fly!!!! Selah can't fly!" She said in the most forlorn voice, shaking her head....I tried very hard to hide my shock, and laughter...how do you explain to a new 3 year old, physics....i think the saddest part of it all, was that in her little brain she had been imagining for the past 3 months, that as soon as Maman makes me those wings, i will be able to fly....poor thing - i think she has recovered. The wings have joined the dress-up box.

  1. Hi Patty-jean
I also have a Selah. She is 15 and the most wonderful girl! Totally in love with Jesus. We pronounce it Say-lah. How do you pronounce it?

    God bless you,
    Brenda, another above rubies mama
