Well i've never had goose for Christmas or Thanksgiving, but i would like to sometime. We eat alot of bison, so as to stay away from the chemical, and antibiotic filled meat that we would find at the supermarket - so i'm all for discovering new meats....
but that's not what this post is about...
Christmas....sigh.....a special time.....a stressful time......(ironic).....
in search of gifts for our 2 littles - i know i'll already be overwhelmed at the volume they will get from relatives (in past years i don't think we even got them gifts, partially b/c they received so many from relatives, and we were always running around to different family gatherings, without actually having our own). But this year we are instigating, Christmas morn is ours!
so the "plastic dilemma"....actually the toy dilemma....i use to get rid of a box or bag of clothes almost on a monthly basis (goodwill) - now toys are added to that equation....and i can't help thinking that our landfills are filled with Toys! crappy plastic toys! toxic, chemical plastic! i apologize if a family member is reading this and you bought a plastic toy for one of the children - take heart, so did my husband - and we are grateful for the gift - on the other side...it weighs on my conscience...
the alternative that is coming to mind, is eventually (if we could actually ever do it) converting the toys to wood and natural fibers (more biodegradable and healthier for the 'littles').
Above is the teething ring that i bought from Canadian Wood Crafts Etsy Shop - it is cherry wood, rubbed with flax seed oil and a little orange essential oil. I Love it - perhaps more than J. I feel so much better with him chewing on that!
Gotta find more stuff like that, replace the other mainstream toys.....
Sigh - sometimes it feels like i'm trying to swim against the flow in mainstream everything!!!
If i don't post before Christmas - have a Lovely one - and i'm not saying that sarcastically - yes community, family is so much more joy filled then the 'cadeux part', (try telling me that when i was 5).
